English Language Arts (ELA)

Core Knowledge Program

During the 2014-2015 school year, teachers are beginning to implement Core Knowledge in grades pre-K through 3.  You are probably familiar with this and don't even realize it.  If you've seen the parent book series, What Your Kindergartner Needs to Know, you've seen Core Knowledge.

We have selected Core Knowledge because it fills in important gaps missing in the past Michigan standards, including phonics and reading to build knowledge.  The Core Knowledge curriculum meets the  more rigorous intent of the Common Core State Standards, which have been adopted by the Michigan Board of Education.
