Forrest Totten |
Seminole opened its doors as a K-8 public school in 1952 under the leadership of Principal Forrest Totten (1952-1969). In the 53 years since its inception, Seminole has undergone many changes, evolving into the superior school it is today. |
In 1970, with Mr. Lynwood Hart (1969-1987) as principal, Seminole underwent a dramatic change and was reconfigured into a junior high school, servicing students in grades seven and eight.Sometime in the late 1980's Seminole added sixth grade to its population. |

Connie Kastran |
Principal Connie Kastran served from 1987-1988 and 1989-1992. During the 1988-1989 school year, Warren Opel served as Seminole principal. Under Ms. Kastran's administration, Seminole returned to its roots as a K-5 elementary school. Furthermore, in June of 1992, during Ms. Kastran's tenure as principal, Seminole was awarded the Robert & Patricia Muth Excellence in Leadership Award. |
Our next principal was Ms. Cecelia Weathers (1992-2001). For most of her time at Seminole, it remained a K-5 elementary school. It wasn't until the late 1990's that Seminole was downsized to a K-2 elementary school. |

Then during the 2001-2002 school year, under Ms. Sharon Gryzenia, Seminole became Seminole Academy of Literacy and Technology. |
Seminole is now under the direction of Mrs. Suzanne Kotas (2002-present) who has facilitated several changes. First, the school was restructured back to a K-5 facility. Then, beginning in the 2004-2005 school year sixth grade was added back into the mix. |

Construction of the new Seminole |
During this time, thanks to the supportive citizens of Mt. Clemens, Seminole was also in the process of having a brand new state-of-the-art building constructed directly behind the old one. |
Although there were many fine memories of times spent in the original building, it was time to move forward. So in one final group photograph, Seminole teachers and students said good-bye to the old Seminole and moved into it their new home in the fall of 2004. |
