District Writing Assessments
At the end of the 2013-2014 school year, a group of teachers worked together to create student-friendly (and parent-friendly) writing rubrics for grades K-3. The purposes of the rubrics are to provide a: (1) guide to teachers about the skills students need for writing, (2) system for measuring student mastery of writing during the school year, and (3) tool for parents to see a child's writing progress.
The writing assessment is given three times during the school year: September/October, January/February, and May.
