King Academy's Mission The mission of King Academy of Extended Learning and Technology is to provide a secure, nurturing environment that embraces individualality, promotes high academic achievement and develops life-long learners who will become contributing members of a global society. Achievement Highlights King Academy has received three special grants for the 2008-2009 school year. These grants will make it possible for us to offer additional programs and technology to our students. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded a "Picturing America' grant to King. This grant gave our school beautiful copies of major American artwork that will be displayed throughout the building. A teacher's resource manual was also provided which gives lessons on how to integrate this artwork into lessons in social studies, art, and literature. The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has awarded King Academy a grant to provide an after-school program to inform students about a healthy lifestyle. Collaborating with Henry Ford Hospital-Macomb the Blast-Off program will be conducted. This program integrates information about nutrition, cooking and physical fitness and encourages students to live healthier lifestyles.
