Teresa Davis, Superintendent
Welcome from the Superintendent
We want to thank you for being a part of the Mount Clemens Community School District. We are privileged to be a part of your student’s education every day. Mount Clemens is a wonderful place to raise and educate your children. The District is moving in the right direction, and we appreciate all that you do to support your children and everyone connected with the Mount Clemens Community Schools.
We extend our gratitude and sincere thanks to you for keeping your students in the district and trusting in their well-being with our staff over the past several years while many changes were being made, and we know it hasn’t been easy. We need you to continue to support us as we make improvements to our district, and the instructional programs. Without you we could not achieve our goals.
We now have a line item budget that is available on our website for you to view. The district has a plan to get out of deficit in two years as long as we maintain our current student enrollment. In order to get out of deficit in two years, the district solidified a new 4-year teacher contract. In it, the employees have graciously agreed to give back 7% of their salary. The staff continues to amaze us with their commitment to see MTCPS succeed.
This summer we will be rewriting our math curriculum and next fall the language arts curriculum to align with the state standards and will include instructional strategies to match each standard. We are so excited to say that this fall we will be adding elementary art and physical education and a robotics elective for middle/high school students.
This district has great things coming our way and we are proud to be a part of these changes, we hope you are too. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school with any questions and/or concerns that you may have. Let’s have a great ending to the 2015-16 school year, and we look forward to seeing you at our Back to School Bash on Wednesday, August 10.
Please call or email if you have questions. I am always happy to answer them. Here's my number: 586.461.3776 and my email, DavisT@mtcps.org. And then, tell everyone about the changes in our district. Invite them to be a part of the Mount Clemens Community Schools; your Hometown School District.
Live Within Our Means
So what exactly does that mean in a school district? It means the school board has approved a budget and it is our job to stick with it. In fact, we're going to work hard to further reduce the financial deficit of the district.
With the help of so many willing to give so much, we should achieve the elimination of our deficit by 2017.
